Import Resources: Overview

The i-lign tool has the ability to import existing resource information. This feature is particularly useful in situations where multiple users need to be created in i-lign, for instance at implementation time, or adding another team to the i-lign user base.

Reviewing deployment progress

You should regularly review your deployment to ensure it is delivering to the outcomes set at the outset of the process. Key things to focus on include:

Microsoft Project Import Procedure

Follow these steps to import a MS Project file into i-lign. (This option is only available in Microsoft Project 2002 or higher.)

Define deliverables, milestones and tasks

Deliverables, milestones and tasks are the most basic elements of all projects. If you're not managing these elements then you are not managing your projects.

Baseline, cluster and prioritise projects

You will baseline, cluster and prioritise your projects when you come to the Population Phase of the i-lign Implementation Plan. The Implementation Plan is provided with all new instances of i-lign.

Estimating Project Resource expenses

i-lign uses four types of estimate. All of them calculate projected expenses between the Start and End dates of the project.

i-Vision

i-Vision provides visualisation of key information in a way that is dramatically different to conventional reporting or standard view screens.

Printing the i-lign Gantt view

Advice on printing the Gantt chart in i-lign

PDF Reports - Risk Trend Graphs

Project risks can be displayed as graphs mapping the risk score over time.

Project Resource Planning

The Project Resource Planning consolidated view displays a list of planned project and resource information, from the current month and for the following eight months.
