Create Associations

i-lign allows you to create associations between items within and across Projects, and between Projects and Programmes. Associations can also be created from Programme Risks and Project Decisions, Deliverables, Issues and Risks.

There are two types of Associations.

Organisation associations allow you to link the item to a Concept, Programme Risk, Library Document, or another Project.

Project associations allow you to link the item to a Decision, another Key Deliverable, Issue, Risk, Benefit, Library Document or Change Request within the same Project, or within another Project.

i-lign also allows you to create Cross-Project Dependencies (XPDs) in the Gantt Chart. XPDs are used when a task in one project depends on a task in another project.

Create a New Association

  • Go to the Project and click Add to Project > Association.

View Associated Items of a Project

  • Three types will display: Risk, Project, Library Document and Concept. For training purposes, click Risk or Project.
  • Select one of the items in the next box and type a Reason for Association.
  • Click Save. The Actions tab will display, showing the new Assocation in the Associated Items panel.

Project Associations

  • Choose a Project from the drop-down list and select a Type of Association.
  • Select one of the items from the drop-down list and type a Reason for Association.

Note

Sometimes once you have selected a Type, the following item box will be empty. This means that there are no items available, so an Association cannot be created.
