The Gantt chart has not been designed to be printed: i-lign is intended for enterprise-wide use and enables online, paperless reporting that uses realtime, consolidated information. However, if you do want to print the Gantt, there are steps you can take to smooth the process.

The i-lign Gantt is a visual representation of your schedule. It is integrated with the Task and Milestone lists, so any changes you make in one place are reflected in the other.

Because the Gantt chart is part of i-lign you can allow other users, with the right permissions, to view your schedule.

The Gantt chart has not been designed to be printed: i-lign is intended for enterprise-wide use and enables online, paperless reporting that uses realtime, consolidated information. Large Gantt charts can cause the system to timeout.

However, if you do want to print the Gantt, you can minimise timeout problems by reducing the number of pages:

  • Click on the printer icon at the top of the Gantt to bring up the print preview screen. Check the number of pages.
  • Move the Gantt time scale slider to adjust the scale of the Gantt and reduce the number of pages
  • Remove any blank lines from your schedule to reduce the number of pages.

Alternative printing options

If you do have problems printing the Gantt you could export your schedule to MSProject and print from there. Alternatively you may find you get good results by printing to a PDF writer as an interim printing stage. If you use this approach it is important to select the printer button on the Gantt chart toolbar rather than the browser print options. (Note: A PDF writer is not included with i-lign. The choice of which PDF writer to use will be made by your organisation.)
